The main exhibition hall of Tianfu Agricultural Expo Park is located in Xinjin District, Chengdu City. The design of the project aims to solve the problem of how to integrate into and dialogue with natural beauty, and create a return to nature pastoral life with a more open, more integrated, and greener strategy. Realize the vision of “creating an agricultural expo in the fields”.

Five groups of giant wooden scaffoldings support a series of flying rainbows, commensurate with the scale of the vast fields, with undulating heights, airy and light, looking towards the distant mountains. The finger-like open layout relationship allows the building to interweave with the field. The complex functions of conferences, exhibitions, commerce, and incubation provide a variety of possibilities for the use of the building.

The design minimizes the energy-consuming space. The three-dimensional platform between the scaffolding and the building provides a zero-energy communication and display space. The adopted wind and sunshade, three-dimensional greening and other measures fully reflect the green building concept in the fields.

The building uses carbon-negative material glulam as the main structural material of the scaffolding, and lightweight and colorful ETFE membrane as the main enclosure material. The wooden scaffolding and colorful ETFE membrane add color to the colorful field.

The goal of structural design is to realize the building’s pursuit of airiness and lightness on the basis of rationalization, and to look forward to the aesthetic expression of the structure itself.
