According to the owner’s needs, the design team built a complex building that combines classrooms for pianos, violins and other musical instruments, a concert hall, a professional recording equipment store, musical instrument sales and storage space, and offices for managing all parties’ businesses.

Each floor has different requirements for sound insulation, landscape, lighting, shading and usage time, and these requirements are very likely to change in the future. The design team decided to use a double skin on the project to maintain a unified appearance regardless of how the room is used or whether the windows are open. As for the material, a mesh membrane that can swing at high altitudes is chosen and can be easily rotated in all directions to obtain the best view of the sky while maintaining light transmittance and breathability.

The polyester fiber fire-retardant outer mesh coated with PVC resin can block the outside view while allowing people inside to see outside. Among them, 33% solar reflectivity can reduce air conditioning energy consumption by 28%. In addition, this kind of film can also be three-dimensionally bent. The lightweight material and the perforation pattern will not produce structural pressure in terms of the material’s own weight or wind pressure. During the process, the design team took into account the building’s irregular site shape, height and setback regulations, as well as necessary elements such as emergency stairs, balconies, pipes and wiring, while ensuring the presented work reflected the company’s Status symbol. The team took inspiration from the appearance of various musical instruments for the building’s shape and adapted it accordingly to maximize capacity. The mesh-covered façade acts like a loudspeaker delivering music to the nearby community, while the building becomes a giant branding icon for promotional purposes.
