Party A hopes to use an existing landscape platform in the rice fields to build a 7-day milk tea shop during the National Day and a pavilion for long-term use by villagers in the future. We hope to build a pavilion for people to stay, enjoy the cool air, and enjoy the view, and look forward to people meeting and gathering in the rice fields.

The existing platform for building the pavilion is a square traffic node of about 10mx10m, located at the intersection of the T-shaped pedestrian intersection. In the middle of the platform is a square pool of about 4mx5m, which is a node of the irrigation water system. In the middle of the pool is a planting pool of about 1.8mx2m. The traffic function of the platform and the function of the pool must be retained. The actual usable area is very limited, so it is considered to put the service space in the middle, above the pool, and the tourist use space and traffic space around it, facing the rice fields on all sides.

Party A hopes that the pavilion will meet the basic functions while also needing a certain degree of identity, just like the land art works in the rice fields in previous years. So the designer thought of building a pavilion that is also a tower. It can be seen from a distance at the entrance of the village, but it is not too abrupt. It is also like a big tent, which falls on the rice field in an interesting and light way. It is a tent that can be climbed and seen from a distance. Under the tent is a place for people to gather. There are also four small round holes of transparent membrane on the tent, which are at different heights and face four directions.

A fast-built light structure is envisioned: the tower (staircase) forms a steel structure in the middle and the operating space on the pool, and the pile foundation is driven into the bearing layer below the bottom of the pool to form a stable core structure; the four corners of the tower top and the platform are connected by tensioned membrane and steel cables to form the roof of the pavilion, forming a lightweight translucent external structure. The combination of pavilion and tower naturally forms an interesting form that is both suitable for use and construction.

The circular layout provides this possibility. In the middle is the service space and the tower. The platforms around it have different widths and orientations, which naturally create different regional senses: the platforms on the southwest are narrower, and two trees on the site are retained in the southwest corner. The trees and tents form a shadow together, naturally becoming a comfortable and cool corner; the platforms on the northeast are wider and naturally become a place for many people to gather. In particular, the platform on the east side has no road connection and is built on the rice field. It is the closest and most open side to the rice field.

It is imagined that this will be a tea pavilion shared by villagers in the future. They can come here to chat, enjoy the cool air, play mahjong… The operation room in the middle can provide them with a place to make tea and simple meals. The village will rent it out in the back and let the villagers run it themselves. It may be a milk tea shop or a barbecue restaurant. It is unknown. I look forward to good things happening here.
