Membrane structure membrane surface fold is a relatively common defect in engineering. There are many causes of wrinkles, but most of them are caused by improper prestress values in design and construction. Therefore, form-finding analysis and load analysis in the design is a key consideration. Secondly, when cutting the diaphragm, the fiber direction of the diaphragm should generally be consistent with the direction of the main stress, and the shrinkage of the membrane along the warp and weft directions should be considered. In addition, before the installation of the membrane surface, the relevant civil size deviation should be checked, and the diaphragm size should be adjusted in time to avoid the problem of membrane structure folding.

The design process of membrane structures can be divided into three stages. The first stage is the form-finding design stage, which is to find the initial equilibrium state close to the surface, including the initial tension, distribution, and geometry, given the shape of the surface that the designer envisions. The second stage is the load analysis stage, that is, the surface obtained by form-finding analysis solves its deformation, displacement, internal force of the cable membrane and determines whether the film has folds or whether the cable has relaxation under the action of various possible load combinations. The third stage is the cutting design phase, the purpose of which is to convert the three-dimensional membrane surface that has been subjected to load analysis into a discrete planar diaphragm.
