On March 22, at the construction site of the permanent site of Zhongguancun Forum, the last structural steel beam was steadily lifted into the air and hoisted into place, marking the full capping of the steel structure and the formal formation of the basic skeleton of the “clover” shape. This highly anticipated “Science and Technology Living Room” in the capital is expected to be delivered and completed as a whole at the end of August this year.

As the main carrier of the future Zhongguancun Forum, the permanent site of Zhongguancun Forum is located at No. 1 Xinjian Gongmen Road, Haidian District, with a total construction area of ​​65,000 square meters. After completion, it will be built into an international top conference center that can meet the needs of 2,000 people for conferences and dining at the same time, and will be linked with the surrounding areas to form the Zhongguancun Forum building complex.

The building with a science and technology theme is unique in shape. The roof and surrounding areas of the building are all covered with green vegetation, and the steel structure slowly rises from north to south, like a huge “clover” stretching out. In particular, it forms a wall-free design with the surrounding natural space. Pedestrians can walk directly to the green area on the roof of the building through the ramp on the north side, and feel the harmonious integration of man and nature. To realize this design concept, the builders need to meet the test of the construction of the curved special-shaped steel house with the main steel structure.

The maximum span of the main lecture hall reaches 47.6 meters, with a cantilever of 21 meters, which is very visually impactful. Due to the height limit and the use of space requirements, multiple rows of single “I” steel are used as the roof steel structure to reduce the roof occupying indoor space. A special “roof” was made in the form of reinforced concrete composite beams, relying on the compressive resistance of concrete to bear the weight of the greening on the future roof. At the same time, the strong tensile resistance of the steel structure was used to support the concrete, and the overall weight of the roof was dispersed through the columns on both sides to create a solid support system.

It is reported that since the underground steel column was started to be hoisted on December 12 last year, the main steel structure construction of the Zhongguancun Forum Permanent Site Project took 96 days, a total of 3,000 hoists were completed, and nearly 8,400 tons of main steel structure were installed. With the completion of the steel structure capping, the basic skeleton of the “clover” was officially formed. Subsequently, multiple construction systems such as metal curtain walls, planted landscape roofs, plain concrete leaf vein paths, ETFE membrane skylights, grille shutters, etc. will successively enter the cross-construction stage, and interior decoration and mechanical and electrical construction will also be promoted simultaneously.
