On July 4, with the first 100-ton steel truss accurately installed on the 60-meter high tire frame, the first hoisting of the roof steel structure of the Yellow River Sports Center Professional Football Stadium project was successfully completed, marking the official entry of the project into the roof steel structure construction stage.

The Yellow River Sports Center Professional Football Stadium project is located in the starting area of ​​the transformation of new and old kinetic energy in Jinan, with a total construction area of ​​197,000 square meters. It adopts the latest FIFA standards of the World Cup. It is the first 60,000-seat professional football stadium in Shandong Province and a major strategic project for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.

The stadium roof structure consists of steel structure, cable structure, membrane structure and metal roof, forming a circle with a height of 60 meters and a diameter of about 280 meters with a central opening in the plane projection. The roof is undulating along the circumferential direction. It is the world’s first spoke-type cable structure covered with a single-layer membrane structure system, and it is also the first professional football field in China to use high-transmittance PTFE grid coating materials on a large scale.

The total steel volume of the roof steel structure is about 31,000 tons. It is supported by only 36 frame columns. The lower part is connected to the concrete structure, and the upper part supports the spoke-type cable membrane structure, forming a large-span, large-cantilever space structure, which plays a supporting role between the upper and lower parts.

The cable and membrane structure above the roof steel structure is composed of CFRP-steel cable combined cable truss and large-area single-layer PTFE grid coating. It innovatively integrates many large-span space structural elements such as the large cantilever roof rigid system and the heterogeneous cable membrane flexible system. It is one of the most complex professional football fields in China. While taking into account function, beauty and lighting performance, it has the structural stress characteristics of “rigidity and flexibility”.

The steel structure construction of the project has many domestic firsts. The maximum cantilever length of the roof steel structure is 45 meters, which is the longest cantilever length of domestic sports stadiums; the construction spans three seasons, summer, autumn and winter, and temperature changes will form huge error accumulation, and the difficulty of the closing section construction is currently the highest in China; after the steel structure is assembled, the supporting frame needs to be unloaded in stages, and the deformation generated during the unloading process is the largest among similar venues in China.
